The Rock Fill Dam is built close to the confluence of the Bhagirathi flowing in from the North West and the Bhilangana from the East. The power house has been created in the manmade cave in the hill. Its the lagest manmade cave ever build which is supported by rock bolts.

  • This dam is very dangerous because the foundation of dam is based on silty rock,snady rocks.Another reason damage of this dam Ganges's water is store in Tihri dam,due to pressure of water dam can collapsed.The Geological Scientists alreday oppose storing of Gange's Water they also said that Tihri Dam is came in sensitive Earthquake Zone & they appeal to Goverment release the Ganga river otherwise it will be dangerous for people & city.There is many Organisation those try to releaes the Ganga river from Tihri dam the Organisation is Ganga Mahasabha,Rashtriya Swabhiman Andolan,Pani Morcha & other organisation try to release the water of Ganga from Dam.
