Known simply as the "Central Hotel" by most locals it is an historic and very grand Victorian railway hotel. Frank Sinatra and Winston Churchill have stayed here! After British Transport Hotels was dissolved by the Thatcher government in 1983 it was owned by a succession of uncaring owners who let the place go by the wayside.

Mercifully, the hotel was rescued by the Principal Hayley group in late 2008, who spent millions restoring the Central back to its former glory.
