The Last Known Stand of Old-Growth Junipers in Modoc National Forest

In 1978, I made the mistake of telling the District Ranger - then located in Canby - that it would be a great place for a picnic area. The very next year, someone cut them all down and hauled them away, probably as firewood.

I didn't realize how inconvenient a grove of old-growth Junipers would be to Modoc National Forest until after I learn later that their policy deems the Juniper trees on this district to be an invasive species. It seems to me that the invasive species was really in Canby.
