St Paul (Шван)

Germany / Mecklenburg-Vorpommern / Schwaan / Шван
 lutheran church/kirk, historical building

St Paul is a characteristic building from the time of transition from the Romanesque to the Gothic style at the beginning of the 13th Century. It is first mentioned in documents in 1232 and is one of the oldest surviving religious buildings in Mecklenburg. Of particular interest is the hexagonal baptismal font from 1589 and a crucifixion group in the sanctuary, whose body Christ is dated to 1300. The neo-growing on the south side of the church was built in 1830 using old building materials. The massive west tower was redesigned in the mid-19th Century.
