Leopold's Cafe (Mumbai)

India / Maharashtra / Mumbai / Colaba Causeway
 restaurant, cafe, bar, notable event

Leopold's is a friendly, inexpensive cafe in the heart of Bombay.

Leopold's Cafe and Bar is probably one of the most well-known restaurants among the ones located on Colaba Causeway. Although it's similar to Cafe Mondegar, there are things other than the food to draw one to this particular joint, such as the scenes in and about the place. Look inside and discover there a very vibrant, humming crowd of customers hailing from various nationalities and walks of life. Look outside and enjoy the most thrilling view of good ol' Mumbai possible. Another attraction of Leopold's is that it is a place that believes in serving hefty portions of food at a reasonable price.

  • A popular destination with expatriates and tourists, the cafe, established in 1871, sits across the street from a police station. Gunmen sprayed the cafe with bullets Wednesday night in a coordinated attack on multiple targets in Mumbai. Photos taken thursday showed a chaotic scene of overturned tables and chairs, scattered shoes and scorched, bullet-pocked walls. CNN
  • Has anyone wondered at the extreme transparency of the whole operation. Every fine detail of the preparations and the operation has come out as a completely plausible story. Was it meant to be transparent, and if so what was the message they were trying to send, and has the message reached its intended recipients? The most significant observation appears to be the non chalant delivery of Bags full of goodies. were they telling us that they had the ability to deliver Bags anywhere in India? were these Bags supposed to be full of tactical nuclear weapons, each of which has the size and weight to fit easily in those Bags? How many nuclear weapons have already been delivered into India, and what is the final count to be? When will they fire those nuclear weapons? Have they developed it as the solution for MAD (Mutual Assured Destruction)? Will a responsible nuclear armed State retaliate against another nuclear armed State even if the nuclear attack is carried out through Non State Actors suspected to be of that State? Will it retaliate even if the Explosion is through long buried weapons? A new doctrine is being developed for Victim State nuclear retaliation in the event of confrontation with anonymous nuclear armed Non State Actors. The retaliation will be done against suspected States, without waiting for proof of guilt.
