University of Southern California President's Estate, owned by the school. Originally the Mudd Estate.

It was built in 1932 by architect Reginald Johnson, who is noted for the Santa Barbara Biltmore Hotel. Paneling was brought over from a manor. The Mudd family made its fortune mining copper on Cyprus in the early 1900s.

Col. Seeley W, Mudd (1861–1926) was a mining engineer and patriarch of the family (source of the name for USC's Mudd Hall of Philosophy as well as a building at Caltech and an engineering building at Columbia.

The science and engineering college Harvey Mudd College (part of the Claremont Colleges) was named in memory of son Harvey Seeley Mudd; his other son Seeley G. Mudd served as dean of the USC medical school and has buildings named after him as well.

Seeley G. Mudd left the home to the university in his estate, with the stipulation that it house the university president. It has done so since 1979.
