The museum was founded in 1961 as the former Odesa Pushkin Museum, and it is a branch of the Odesa Literary Museum.
It is located in the building of the former Hotel Du Nord, where Pushkin lived in 1823.
The museum received its new name on January 1, 2025.
The museum does not work since January 31, 2025, due to the significant damage of its building as a result of Russian shelling of the Odesa Center.
