Canyonlands grabens, Utah, form an active extensional fault array comprising segmeted normal faults, linked by both relay and breached relay ramp structures. Growth of this complex fault array by segment linkage has resulted in major changes in the stream drainages across the area through processes of stream capture and diversion. The grabens are an excellent analog for examining structural trap development and control on reservoir distribution within larger scale fault systems in the subsurface.
