The Mystery Hole is reminiscent of tourist traps of days gone by. It includes side show attractions such as balls that roll up hill. There is also a Volkswagen Beetle, chopped in half, seemingly driving out of the building.

The Mystery Hole is simply an underground series of rooms where the walls and floors are built at angles so as to give the impression that there is something wrong with the gravitational poles in the area. There is one section where water seemingly flows upwards and the tour guide sits on the walls.

It is really pretty goofy, but if you are into kitschy fun and cheesy tourist attractions then this is the thing for you. The guy who guides the tour is always entertaining, plus you can visit the gift shop afterwords and buy car-bumper stickers, thus helping to perpetuate the mystery.

  • Ran into this while working on Route 60 and now I'm determined to visit it next time I'm in the area.
