One of the two supporting dams of Idukki Arch dam. The other one - Kulamavu Dam.
only this dam has got Gates for releasing water.
There are three dams which create Idukki reservoir. Idukki Arch Dam, Kulamavu Dam and Cheruthoni Dam. Only Cheruthoni Dam has spillways other two being static dams.
