museum, Second World War 1939-1945, interesting place
The Pegasus Memorial Museum was inaugurated by HRH The Prince of Wales on 4 June 2004 and lies at the Eastern end of the current bridge. The museum contains the original bridge captured by British airbourne troops in the early morning hours of June 6, 1944 during D-Day, along with a Horsa glider. Horsa gliders were used by the British to allow them to get close to the bridge undetected by the German guards.
