Merville Battery

Merville Gun battery was the target of the 9th battalion Parachute Regiment commanded by Terence Otway in the night before D-Day. The aim was to neutralise the battery, which had been bombed ineffectively several times, in time for the landing.

The main batteries were WW1 Austro Hungarian 100mm.

On the preserved historic site, an educational trail leads to thevarious bunkers.
