Winter Garden built in 1960 (Moscow)

On the west side of Vladimir hall, on a reconstruction of utility extension of BKD in the 1930s on the second floor is located a winter garden, built by the project team of Soviet architects - VS Andreev, G. M. Wolfson, VN Dolganov, and others. The opening of the garden took place in 1960.

Since the beginning of 1930-ies and 1959 there was the cinema, where Stalin and the Politburo members viewed films.

Winter Garden area 320 square meters. Here is a 120 species of plants.

With the help of air heating the garden maintains a constant temperature of (16 to 18 °) and humidity (65%).

In the recess of the south wall is constructed swimming pool with a slide of large colored blocks of domestic and Bohemian crystal. There is a small pool with a miniature fountain that is a unique aquarium, populated with many fish of various kinds.

North and south walls of the garden are covered by large slabs of the Ural and Balandinskov marble which are almost entirely covered with creepers. The Western Wall is continuous windows, and the eastern consists of a huge mirror.
