The small waterfall existed before the 15th century. Commissioned by the Prince-Abbot of 'Stavelot' in the 17th century, the big waterfall was made by monks, likely to protect the meander located at the 'Petit-Coo' from flooding.
Today the waterfall is a tourist attraction.
