It is the dam created only for the purpose of power generation and as flow management dam(balancing reservoir) for prakasam barrage. it is very good place for dam as it is between hill and observe the curve that is taken by krishna river at this area. one of the projects proposed by sir arthur cotton. dream project of K.L Rao. it stores about 45.77 tmcs of water.
