A small town outside Nottingham founded around the 900 year old Parish Church, which is famous for being the burial sire for the body of poet Lord Byron. The town's coat of arms is also taken directly from Lord Byron. Its other claims to fame include being the home-town of composer Eric Coates (of The Dambusters March fame) and the place where the world's first jump-jet (known affectionately as the 'Flying Bedstead', also the name of a local pub) was first tested at RAF Hucknall.

The Nottingham NET tram network terminates in Hucknall and was completed in 2004, and the central marketplace was re-developed in 2006. Bordering the Piggins Croft car park, and opposite an abandoned Safeways building is the famous 'Farm Direct' greengrocers.
