Lock 31 is located at mile 58.0 of the C&O Canal near Weverton - it's known as the "Weverton Lock". The Appalachian Trail joins the towpath just a few feet west of this lock and the two trails remain joined until the bridge over the Potomac to Harpers Ferry.
