Uttar Pradesh State. Meerut District. Population: 12593 inhabitants (World Gazetteer, census 2001). Other name: Kharkhoda.
Kharkhauda town lies on the western side of the road going from Meerut to Hapur. It is believed that the stables of the rajas of Hastinapur had been located in this ancient town. Kharkhauda derives its name from the word 'kharak,' meaning a 'stall.' Another tradition connects it with Khara and Dushana, the brothers of Ravana. The town began to flourish in the time of Humayun.

  • It is a happening place .And in fact centre of many activites affecting nearby villages. Unfortunately the town has not progressed as it should have been owing to its potential. Education level need to be improved as kheti itself would not be sufficient now. Off late some good news of new college opening has come . I guess one forum should be established to ponder what can be done to save the town from petty interests and to decide the future roadmap.
  • It's my native place i love this one too muuch.I live in delhi but on every weekend i used to come here. Now our town have good roads.There are several solar lights at main-2 locations,there r high mask light at different-2 location.but the worst thing for this town is the power situation.
