So plz Visit this place & Experience its Unique Test. Weeks before this year's Rath Yatra, Odisha initiated a move to get GI status for the rasagola made in Pahala near Bhubaneswar. "We are trying to protect the distinctive identity of the Pahala rasagola," said Panchanan Das, secretary of Odisha's micro, small and medium enterprises department. Surya Narayan Rath Sharma, a researcher associated with the Jagannath Temple, too, said, "The rasagola originated in Puri over 1,500 years ago. It is offered to gods on Niladri Bije every year." Most food historians in West Bengal believe that the rasagola was invented in 1868 by Nobin Chandra Das, who later founded iconic sweetmeat chain KC Das. Animikh Roy, great-great-grandson of Nobin Chandra Das, said, "As Odisha has taken the step to get GI status for the Pahala rasagolla, we are also going forward to protect the identity of rasagolla, which people for 150 years have identified with Bengal."

  • The roadside sweet market at Pahal on the Cuttack-Bhubaneswar stretch of NH-5 is considered the cheapest and third largest sweet bazaar in the state after Salipur and Nimapara. Thousands of commuters love to take a sweet break on the way or take home some delicacies. While the majority of buyers seem to be happy with the variety, some complain about the poor hygienic conditions in which the sweets are prepared. The sweets are not properly covered, they attract a lot of dust, dirt and flies. The sweets are cheap and a buyer gets a large quantity."This road is frequented by VIPs, ministers, bureaucrats and even judges, who stop by to pick up some sweets but no one complains about quality and hygiene.
