The Port of Prescott is located on the St. Lawrence River, 100 kilometers south of Ottawa, Ontario and 200 kilometers west of Montreal, Quebec.

The port has the only major grain elevator (154,000 metric tonnes of storage) in eastern Ontario for public use licensed by the Canadian Grain Commission.

With direct access to major transportation routes such as the St. Lawrence Seaway, national railway mainlines (CN and CP), highways 401 and 416 and the Ogdensburg bridge to New York State, it is also the only multi-model facility in eastern Ontario that handles dry bulk material by marine, road or rail for storage and/or transshipment.

The port has two landside wharves (442 metres and 193 metres) for dry bulk cargo, a grain unloading berth of 398 metres and a grain loading berth of 282 metres (all at Seaway draught).
