  • Written with heart. A very emotionally narrated piece of information about Nagoli village. But Mr. Thapa you mentioned that if someone comes to your village he settles there forever. I have visited this village twice but not settled there for once and still live in my village Tamlag. I mean - you are emotionally attached to this place like we all people belonging to Uttrakhand, but one should not be carried away by emotions while describing the facts.
  • I***MY VILLAGE NAGOLI*** My village name is nagoli located in gagwarsyun Patti pauri garhwal of the uttrakhand state. Nagoli is a very small village hardly twenty five to twenty seven families live in it. The climate of pauri garhwal is suits for every one who visit there. Uttrakhand is called Goddess land because in the ancient time saint used to do worship in this land. One who visit once in my village he wants to live in it forever. I always realize that I am very lucky who found such type of graceful place. Actually I belong to Nepal but I did not visit Nepal till now. It is called that the man loves his real country but in case of me its exactly opposite actually I love India as well as Nepal. I have intend wish to visit once to Nepal because ultimately I am inhabitant of Nepal not of India. My family has been living in nagoli village since 1986. The people of the nagoli village are very innocent and very hard working person. My village Nagoli is enclosured with greenery forest. It looks like heaven in the month July to February.Becouse it gets heavy rain between these months. My villagers are depend on agriculture but they don’t sell corn in the market because it is only enough for themselves. They have only a way to earn money by doing labour in the village and those who don’t do labour they are depend on their son or relatives. My villagers never purchase vegetable from market they always take fresh vegetable from their own field like tomato, potato, onion, garlic, ginger etc. I have already written above that there is very dense forest near my village which makes my village more gorgeous. And in that forest kafal is found which is very famous jungle fruit of Uttrakhand state. This fruit is found between months of April to till June. When the month of April begin the people of all villages begin start to go to jungle to pluck this jungle fruit Kafal. At the time of June month all people of village stay whole day in the jungle for plucking this jungle fruit. The all people enjoy very much while plucking kafal and spend whole day in the forest with friends. When all boys reach at their home then they again enjoy during having kafal with their family at home. When I was at my village then I also used to do enjoy plucking kafal very much in the June month with my friend and my family but now I am in Delhi so I can’t get that enjoy with my friends as I used to get at my village. Now my all friends have got separated from me but I know it’s a rule of nature nobody can remain for ever with friends. I miss very much the time when I used to go to my primary school Khaproli. This school is located far just 0.5km away from my village Nagoli. When I used to study in Khaproli School, there were around 50 student including both villages’ children Nagoli and Khaproli. At the time of my era Mr.Heera Singh was my head teacher and Mr. Saber Singh negi was my assistance teacher. Even I have remember till now Mr. Heera Singh Jawari always used to teach us with loud voice. That was my first teacher Mr. Heera Singh who perforced to my parents to admit me in the school. After perforcing I was sent to school. Even today I miss my teacher lot of account of he showed me right way. If I talk about my village there are lots of pet animal in my village as cows, goats. There is no any family who don’t have pet animal except my family. Because my father and mother have to go for doing work outside from home, so there is nobody been in my home. There are so many hill station near my village which makes village very attractive. Allover I have not seen heaven ever but that would be like my village Nagoli. I always pray to God if i get born in the next world,God may give me birth on nagoli land. ABOUT ME : hi.... • Hi , is there any way we can stay at this village ? and how to reach this village / please explain location. thanks Hardev , Ph: 9650487814
  • Teju, I am impressed how much he loves the village despite the fact that he is settled here from Nepal. My friend from Tamlaq could not understand his feelings, I have also visited Tamlaq village which is good, but Nagoli is much natural and habitable due to its location. However, the village is quite backward in the sense of development and road connectivity but it is good in disguise as its beauty remained intact. Natural water from the routes of Baanj tree comes to our village, kafal trees are plenty within the village, bagh (a kind of cheetah, deers, bears also comes to the village. A holiday is worth in staying peaceful sorroundings of this village. Soon will let you know more..............
  • Continue......About Nagoli, it has history of its ancesstors, the village came into existence during the early period of britishers nearly 1840-50. As per the documents, the village first, was a place of bufellow field due to greenery and water resources. The Rajputras or Rajput of Chauhan dynasty migrated to the hills of Garhwals and their breeds of Rawat Paliyals come into existence in this village. Following, Bishts, Joshis, Riyal (Sundriyals), Das, Jogi and others settled here. Well, Teju, Adwani and Ranigarh are nearest famous places to this village. Khusgali is the nearest market place. To reach to this village there are three ways from Pauri City: one to the lower road via Lwali School, Tamlaq, Dhanna, Bangaon and track way upto Nagoli. 2nd from Pauri to Adwani and track down to Nagoli via Nursery. 3rd way from Pauri, Adwani to Khusgali and track down upto 2 or three kilometer to Nagoli. Will let you know more about Nago................
  • Friends( Mera Bhaiji Bhulon, dagdiaon), I am writing a book on Garhwal's brief history, particulary on Pauri Garhwal. Village Nagoli will find special place and would be a research subject. The beauty of nature in abundance in the village, rich flora and fauna and the wonderful people of the land. HOwe temples of Nagaraja came into existence in Garhwal region, how Bhairav and Narsing devta found place as deity of the land. So many things, I am researching nowadays. Will let you more in a few months. Regards,
  • Dear Manoj bhai, Please keep us updated on your book and would like to have about 10-20 copies of it. Please send you contact info.
  • By a Few Here and There Words. I appreciate the views/praise of Shri Teju and others about his/their village - Nagoli. Kudos to them. In spite of all this, the young generation are not at all ready to stay/settle in the village, probably due to lack of livelihood (Jeevikas Saadhan. By working the whole year, the people could not produce their livelihood even for a month and for the rest of the year, they depend on Money-Order policy from their dearest who are working in the big cities and will never return to their native land. Agriculture is the main occupation of the village. Irrigable land is negligible and the people have to mostly depend on the rain Devtas. Nursery was another experiment mooted by the State Govt. which the people have rejected and turned them to their fate on the dryland. People are labourous but not at the desired level. Ladies work most of the time while men passed on their time by smoking and gossiping. They don't have the constructive mind and if few have, they have discouraged by taunts (having unhygienic minds)compelling them to be destructive. This all due to lack of knowledge and the inhabitants do not want to change them or their profession due to lack of awareness/knowledge. They want to remain on the profession which they have got from their inheritents. The main hurdle of development is lack of knowledge. See the State Govt. is also responsible for this state of affairs. Soil survey was not done inthis area and if it is done in some areas, due to lack of knowledge/narrow-mindedness, people of the village are not ready to accept the suggestions made by the Statement Govt. if any. Let us create the awareness among the people there. Tell and show them - sow the grain which can be suiable to the soil and climate, give the maximum crops and the beneficiary can gain a lot by selling them in the market after keeping for their daily needs. 'Oalayan hota jaa raha hai' and no body is ready to settle there. Time is not far away when these villages will be known another 'harappas and Mohanjodaros and Ajanta and Allora's caves. I had an opportunity to visit my village Nagoli in June last year. The main problem before the inhabitants there was insufficient water. Everybody want to discuss and solve the problem by sitting on the cot. In any case, BK made them prepared to go to Pauri and meet some officers there who could solve the problems. Some two-three gentlemen came to the village to know the source from which water can be brought through the pipes. But thre was no unanimity on this also. On coming to Delhi, I talked to the D.M. Pauri Shri C. Yadav and sought an appointment for BK, who in turn, met the DM and get sanctioned the plan. I don't know the fate of this after that. God Save! Gentlement, Don't be angry with me since I have enchrosed your views. In spite of all the above, I like my village Nagoli. After all, I have been born and brought up in this village. Got my schooling from Bangaon Primary School where Gokul Master was the head and very disciplined. After Primary schooling, I went to Kaleswar School and studied upto 7th Class,. I left the school after that on the main plea that 8th was the Board and, to be honest, I could not get through had I been there. To pass the Board exam was an uphill task. So, I left for Delhi with my father leaving behind all the memories. Perhaps this was the Goal. God knows. Gentleman, I am sorry, I have used colloquil langage and not with the intention to harm others.(Consultant- Union Public Service Commission)
  • Mr. Joshi, Thanks for your message and update. Nagoli is a great village and has great agricultural potential. Do you also know Mr. Tejpal Singh Thapa who is from this village. His mobile number is 09718603460 ? He has similar views as you. Just thought hta
  • It is really nice to see many of us talking about our village through this portal. Talking from a distance saves in many ways, because we deviate from taking Responsibility. An Update : 1. The drinking water problem in Nagoli village got resolved. 2. The road work, connecting our village from Nearby area, is also under progress. The only thing which is now to be developed is the "freak mentality" of the people residing in our-like villages. We will have to live with this quote : "What can not be cured, must be endured". No one bothers for the development of our village. Masses are excited to comment on the work being carried out. That is it. I am sure, in another 7 (seven years), one village will have to bear the burnt of isolation from all the sphere of life. Gone are the days-when we used to play in our "Chauks", gone are the days - when we used to have "Kafals", Gone are the days - when we used to have "Melu & Kingod". Today, Everyone in our-like villages is busy, spending the time of 24 hours, as under: 30% time is being spent talking about "Bakri Maarna" and things related to that. 60% time is being spent talking about "Daaru" - the future and past of it. 5% time is being spent on earning bread & butter. 2% time is being spent on eating, whatever has been earned. 3% time (not sure) may be for other things, but I am sure it not for development. 100% time gets consumed this way. Rest all the heritage type of things of our villages are part of History. I am pained while sharing this bitter truth. May God save us! Bal Krishna Joshi, Village-Nagoli.
  • The beautiful picturesque scene of my village Nagoli and its round abouts was there in my mind which I adore and cherish. But when I visited my village Nagoli two years ago, I was aghast to see the congestion, degradation and the pollution of Pauri. No doubt, tremendous development has taken plaqce, a lot of concrete jungle have emerged. One can also notice a lot of vehicles and people but there is no longer the pristine glory of the Himalayas, the beauty of the lake (Gadna) and the environmental cleanliness of the village, the small murmuring streams (Chwayas) of the bygone days have vanished. This is the cost we are putting for our so called development adversely affecting our echo-system and environment resulting in global warming. Will it be worth living in the near future? When resources for livelihood is created there by the Government (it was nill when we were very little and getting our education in Bangaonkhal school), everybody is fleecing from there. Thanks to the education! !!!!.............................? Bishnu Datt Joshi, Nagoli.
  • 20th January, 2015 अनकहे शब्दों के बोझ से थक जाता हूँ कभी, ना जाने खामोश रहना समझदारी है या मजबूरी....: An update: With an intent to do something better for my village, feel happy to share that two projects (i.e. providing water and road to the door steps of villagers) are almost accomplished. The approach road is also progressing now (construction is in full swing). The project related to impart education is under incubation (one of the four proposed stages of creativity). However, due to paucity of time with the current engagements, feel constrained to take it further much. Without support, it is always like chasing a wild goose. However, I have decided not to tame this goose now and put my energy and time to some other activities. Sorry Folks, I couldn't repair your brakes, so I made your horn louder. Please don't get me wrong! To me, the very first step (or say the very first priority) for all "Nagolites" is to UNITE; that too for a CAUSE and once we do that, then we can have brain-storming wherein we respect everyone's ideas/views. Without moving an inch, it is very difficult go gain a mile. You know that! My village is close to my heart, but would love the above approach for moving forward. We have no choice today, hence we can't choose the best - we can only do the Best. It is high time to move towards that direction, I mean let us water the roots, instead of looking only at the hanging fruits.
  • Namaskar. It is rightly said "we are what our thoughts have made us". When we decided to do something for our village, we succeeded in our concerted efforts and resolved the issue of water. Again, we approached the issue of road through all possible channels, may it be from private or Government channels, may it be personal or official follow, we did it in coordination. BK played a pivotal role to generate the ideas and we played our part to be enforcer to some extent. But, our intention was not be adroit magician to hold the attention of others, instead we were dreamers and lovers of our native place. We initiated, we followed up and we left the job for generation to come, because of disunity and lack of support. But is it not harsh to expect support from unaware villagers with limited ability to understand the system? The alacrity on our part was appreciated, equally indecisiveness and further lack of vision will cost us in future. Although we know it that those who have left the village once and for all and settled outside, they still love their village but it is also true, they also don’t want to consume their time and energy on the issues of their motherland where they born and brought up. We can get lots of sermons, good advices and brilliant lectures, but it is difficult to get genuine contribution in any real form which is expected or sought. I know this brusque statement will displease every one. But, we have to face the truth. Please forgive my maladroit remarks, they have come straight from the heart and not meant for the readers or for particular person. I started from an adage, yes, we are what our thoughts have made us. Let’s be sagacious, Let’s be positive once again, let’s try to unite all, let’s have a vision for our village, because we are indebted to our land of birth. “Thoughts live, they travel far” we need to ignite our thoughts once again. Jai Bharat, Jai Uttrakhand, Jai Nagoli.
  • Hi Folks, Greetings! I had a chance to visit my village (Nagoli) during mid June (2015) and was quite happy to see that we had abundant water supply in our village during the scorching heat. I do fully agree with the view point of Manoj, who has immensely contributed for this noble cause. Rest of the inhabitants of our village (who go to our village from Delhi or Urban areas) keep on burning their calories by commenting on poor condition of our village; and why not, because they are the one who know that without investing on treadmill, it is a cheaper & nice way to lose on calories! Clever Folks, keep it up, but do remember world is beyond that! I could also see some on-going construction of Road, which I believe will be accomplished during next summer. Today, we suddenly feel so broken - don't know what to do, but it is quite clear that the mirror never loses its ability to reflect even if it is broken into two pieces or thousand pieces. Let us unite and sit across to make our village, a dream village. खामोशी छुपाती है ऐब और हुनर दोनों, शख्सियत का अंदाजा गुफ्तगू से होता है. Nagoli-ites, heads-up! I, along with my childhood friend-Manoj, will soon approach each one of you to take your ideas/views as to how we can contribute, collectively, much better for the development of our native place. We may also help to burn some more calories for some of the fellows, when they put their hand into their wallet to shed some money, as a part of their contribution. Take it easy! We all are salesmen in this world and want to win in every situation, so here is Zig Ziglar remembered again: “You were born to win, but to be a winner you must plan to win, prepare to win, and expect to win”. Goodbye and will catch-up soon. Bal Krishna Joshi
