The Millau Viaduct is a cable-stayed road bridge that carries the autoroute A75 across the valley of the River Tarn near Millau in southern France. It is the tallest vehicular bridge in the world, with one pier's summit at 343 metres — slightly higher than the Eiffel Tower and only 38 metres shorter than the Empire State Building.

  • Having driven over it during 2006, it is superb. An adjacent service station and viewing point was almost completed, to prevent drivers stopping illegally on the autoroute to take photos. There is a toll payable, around €6.

  • Just saw a documentary on the National Geographic Channel detailing the construction of this bridge. Truly an amazing engineering feat if there ever was one. Apparently it was completed on time, on budget, and without a single serious accident. The completed bridge is very beautiful to look at - very elegant and pleasing to the surrounding landscape.
  • Spectacular! When we first drove over it in early 2005 the sun was blazing, the sky was cloudless, and we had the bridge entirely to ourselves. We have had to share it with others ever since!
