The village was created of 13 smaller settlements. Original dwellers´occupation was forestry which still remains the main industry in the area.
Active non profit organisation Vydra works with local inhabitants boosting tourism and environmental awareness.
Main attractions are narrow gauge forest railway that still has steam engines in operation (serving for tourism purposes), forestry openair museum (interpretive trail) and primeval forest - Dobročský prales - national nature reserve under the highest legal protection.
There is also strong practice of folklore traditions in the village.
