Rose City Islamic Centre provides programs and activities for Windsor's approximately 30,000 Muslims. The two storey 141,228 sq. ft. former school building is located on 7.75 acs. and features a youth centre, women's centre, a high school program, Islamic information centre and a branch of the American Islamic University.

Originally built by the Windsor Public School Board, the school was first known as Shawnee Vocational School. In later years the property was sold to the Catholic School Board which renamed the school St. Joseph's Catholic High School which operated at this site until it relocated to 2425 Clover Street near McHugh.
