This toll bridge carries the Garden State Parkway over the Raritan River in Middlesex County, New Jersey. The bridge was opened in 1954, and it was named for former N.J. Governor Alfred E. Driscoll in 1974.
As of May 2009, it is the widest bridge (by number of travel lanes) in the United States. It has 15 travel lanes among its three side-by-side spans, and six shoulder lanes. There are seven southbound lanes on the western span, and four northbound lanes on each of the center and eastern spans.
