Carries 12 lanes of the New Jersey Turnpike (Interstate 95) over the Raritan River. First opened in 1951 with the completion of the Turnpike, it was expanded in 1973 for the new cars-trucks-buses lanes.
The bridge, which opened along with the Turnpike in 1951 is named for John Basilone, a World War II recipient of the Medal of Honor who grew up in nearby Raritan, New Jersey.
