Museum of the Hungarian Petroleum Industry (MOIM) is a professional, trade museum with the collecting circles throughout the country. It was founded to gather, work up and present the more than 100 years history of the Hungarian hydrocarbon industry in its exhibitions and publications. In 1993 the museum took over the Zsigmondy Vilmos Collection and since that time it collects and preserves not only the historical souvenirs of the hydrocarbon industry, but the ones of the water mining as well. In 1995 the permanent exhibition of the MOIM "Technical souvenirs of the crude oil and natural gas transport" opened in the Vecsés plant of the MOL Rt. The museum systematizes, registers, works up scientifically the materials that got in its collections and presents them in its exhibitions and publications.
The visitors can get to know the technical souvenirs of the hydrocarbon industry (exploitation, processing, transport) in Zalaegerszeg, in the neighbourhood of the Open Air Village Museum, on the open air permanent exhibition area of 30 000 m2, and the technological processes, history of the industry as well in the stable exhibition halls. In its statue park the busts of the outstanding technical specialists can be seen.
