Built on the grounds of the 1887 US LifeSaving Service Frankfort Lifeboat Station, USCG Station Frankfort was re-constructed 2004 and is presently manned by 15 active duty personnel and 4 Reserve Personnel. During the summer, the Station provides include Search and Rescue (SAR) and Law Enforcement/Recreational Boating Safety services and provides Ice Rescue capabilities during the winter months. Utilizing two small boat units, USCG Station Frankfory averages 40 SAR cases per year and is part of the US Coast Guard's 9th District, Sector Lake Michigan.
