Jessop makes railway wagons,wheels, bridge girders and other heavy engineering goods.The company was form during British rule and was a leading heavy engineering company. After independence its profitability dipped as the Indian Govt reduced spend on infrastructure. The almost bankrupt company was taken over by the Indian Govt who made things worse. Finally, a few years back it was privatized and is now recovering.
