Site of the now abandoned Tata Motors factory. The factory was 85% complete and has been abandoned following pro-farmer political protests by Trinamool Congress Party led by Miss Mamata Bannerjee,now CM, West Bengal and noted human rights activists Anuradha Talwar,Medha Patkar, novelist Arundhuti Ray, filmmaker Aparna Sen and theatre personality Shaonli Mitra and many others. The opponents of this project were against wrongful acquisition of 3/4 crops fertile farm lands by the Left Front Government which rightly lost the 2011 Loksabha elections miserably owing to their exploitation of the Singur farmers etc. etc. Mamata's stand was thus vindicated by the electorate mass. The Tatas were thus forced to abandon the project and move to one of the most industrially advanced state of Gujarat.

  • The point that people of west Bengal do not understand is that there are vested groups in an outside the state that do not like to see west Bengal flourish/rise. So this is nothing but a ploy to lower down the image of the state. The state is a victim of national crab culture. The persons who are opposing the progress now will understand this in their ripe age when there will be no way to return back as the state will have taken the lowest rank in the overall developmental status in the country but a first place under non-developmental category! What to say more! I can bring a horse to a riverside but cannot make it drink water from it forcibly!
