A hill that use to be the Colliery Coal tip for the East Kirkby Colliry that closed in 1969. The Colliery was Knicknamed The Summit Pit because the railway line that came from Nottingham up to the East Kirkby Colliery was all up hill and then downhill to Mansfield.
So East Kirkby Colliery was the Summit of this railway line.
Sometime in the late 1970's thousands of trees were planted and now it has grown into a pleasant area, with scenic views.It has bench's to sit and rest after the walk up the hill.
Minor warning it does suffer occassionally to kids on motorbikes using it as a speedway track.
