This is a movie palace, designed by Rapp and Rapp (Designers of more well known theatres like the Chicago Theatre in Chicago, Illinois, and the Al Ringling Theatre in Baraboo) and built in 1927. Originally a vaudeville touring house, the theatre's grand auditorium was duplexed in the eighties to form two smaller movie theatres.
The Rhode Opera House is the current home of the Lakeside Players, a local community theatre organization.
