Operation Freshman was the code name given to the Special Operations Executives (SOE) attempt to destroy production of Heavy Water at Vermark, Norway. Heavy Water production was vital to the German Atomic Bomb development. Had this operation not taken place, the outcome of World WarII could have been very different.
This operation was the major influence behind the film "Heroes of Telemark"
