It has a seating capacity of 15000 and has flood-lights. Its the headquarter of Rawalpindi Division cricket team, the holders of Patrons Trophy (Pakistan's First-Class tournament played among departments) in 1993. The ground staged its first ODI on Jan 19, 1992 against Sri Lanka and its first Test against Zimbabwe on Dec 9, 1993.
Rawalpindi has played host to eight Tests and 18 ODIs since 1992.
