McMeekin Station is SCE&G's coal-fired electric power plant at the base of the Dreher Shoals Dam, commonly known as the Saluda Dam or the Lake Murray Dam. It uses cold water drawn from the bottom of Lake Murray for cooling, increasing the plant's efficiency and reducing air pollution.

The most efficient fossil plant in SCE&G's system generates 252 megawatts of electricity by burning pulverized coal in two units. At full load, McMeekin Station can produce enough power in one hour to supply the average electric needs of 252 residential customers for one month.
