St. Aloysius Higher Secondary English School is one of the Oldest and well-reputed school in Kollam Corporation built in the year 1900. It was started by Irish Brothers and since then the school had run with its own name of grace and decorum. The school boasts of high strength of students and good alumunus in the District, both in Merit and Standard among other Government aided schools. Alumnus include the Doctors, Engineers, IT Professionals, Politicians and scientists. Adjacent to the school is the shrine of "Our lady of fatima" and seminary for the clergy. All the School, shrine and the Seminary is run and Managed by the Bishop of Kollam.

St Aloysius Higher Secondary School is likely one of the oldest schools in the State of Kerala, India and is located in the District of Kollam. It was founded by the Irish brothers in 1897.

This school is located near to Vaddy beach, Kollam around the corner from Vaddy Church.[1]

Nearly 4000 students study in this institution, which was upgraded to senior secondary school.

The main subjects in Higher secondary section are science, computer science and commerce.

The High School is currently co-educational.

  • i studied at st .aloysius between 1957 and 1961 when fr.itticunnath was head master.i was one of the first batch of ACC, the earlier version of NCC .Now after living in different parts of india and the globe,currently settled in canada.   • I would like to write or add some right commets about my parent school. Proudly I can say that I am the product of St Aloysius Hs. After completion of my successive school life from St Aloysius,I had completed my Pre Degree from Fathima Matha National College. It is because of the well education from the St Aloysius only. I always there an avarage student only, but i came to know that I can prove and grow proudly with the name of St Aloysius. Realy It is/was the truth. I got the adimissons every where because of the name of my former institute St Aloysius only. Now I am at the age of 41 and I successfully completed my Naval Aviation Service from the Indian Navy. It all happend due to the well education and principles which I learned from my former institute only. Proudly I am saluting to my parent school and the teachers those who are really take pain for me and the school. I would like to add some name on this occasion those who proudly work for the school to retain the name up always. That was Mr Bastian william former Head Master, Moris Sir, Muraleedharan Sir, Bahuleyan sir, Yohannan Sir, Charles Sir, Domestic Sir, Vidyadharan sir, suffarnos sir, Felixs sir, Antony sir, MM Thomas Sir etc. one again I am saluting to the management also.   • I saw the comments by Sri.K.R.V.NAICK of 1957-61 and I appreciate his action in remembering as well as commenting on a web site when inbternet itself became prevalent in 1995 when was around FIFTY YEARS .This shows what finished products schools like ST.Aloysius produced in the Fifties.Hats off to the school and its old stalwarts.
  • It is my proud moment to mention that I was a student of this school from 1973-'78. We had wonderful set of friends and teachers around there during that time. Few of the teachers to be specifically mentioned are Bastian William sir, Morris Sir, Dr. Xavier Paul & Joseph John sir. We had wonderful time in the school and cherish each and every moment. I use this opportunity to wish the school and all its authorities and students all the very best.

  • In 1967 SSLC english medium batch we had some friends called Jacob Kandathil, Kenner Rufus Perera, Henry Lopez, Suku, Anil R, Anil Kumar, Balagopal, Subramaniam, Emmanuel Issac, Maxwell etc. There used to be a watcher nicknamed "Madan" and a Drill Master nick named "Bapooty". Then we had Head Master Br.Ittikunnath, Brs. CHristopher Murphy, JJ Cruz etc. Teachers Bastian William, Christopher Morris, A Charles, MM Thomas, Vidhyadharan, Muraleedharan etc. Contempories like famous George Muthu, Titus Kurian, E Balagopal(Chimney) etc. Does somebody knows any of these guys? Please respond if you have any idea of these people, including me.
  • my fine memories from 1955to 1960.lot of my teachers ,old hill on the eastern side,drill shed with sea sand,badminton court,thached building housing tamil claass etc. i owe much to former head master late father Ittikunneth.I see him through his signature on my SSLC book.I still rememberhim playing football with us.i am really proud of my gurukula.

Art that time Headmaster was Mr.Bastin Willaim, The masters were Zakerai, Morris, John, MM Thomas, MM Mathew, T Thomas, Chandapilla, Krishnan Nair ( Hindi ) Zaparno ( Hindi ) Dr Xaviour Paul ( Malayalam ), Marian, Vidhyadharan, Pappachan, Charles, Vishwanadhan and Bahuleyan sir for Sports.Kanaka Raj, Ludovik,Mathias,and peon Thomachan. My clasmates were Narayanan Kutty, Sanal, Kochu Thomas, Fazal Abbas, Jose Tomy Pius, Shaji, Biju, Harish, Santhosh, Ibinu Shabeer, Salim, Sulfikar, Vaikundam, Murukan, Gopakumar, Bhaktan, Ajith, Noushad, Ayyappan, Joseph, Patric, Mathew,Aravindakshan etc. When I was in standard V- the famous footballers were, Pascal, Thobias, Kochu Thomas, Valiya Thomas, Sbastain, Balan. At that time the present playback singer KG Marcos was in standard X. Yes it is my nostalgia.
  • I studied here from 1975 to 1981, class 5 to class 10 . It gives me immense pride to recollect that I am a product of St Aloysius. My teachers, who had combinedly moulded my character, are living evergreen in my memories. Students of St Aloysius of that era had seen teachers who were sincere and dedicated to their cause, that is to raise the academic and moral standards of the students to par excellent levels. I was in English medium. But the students made up a cross section of the society, unlike some other English medium schools where only a slice from the top rungs of the society prevailed, This schooling taught us to be at ease with the society we confronted in reality later in life. This schooling gave us kindness and humility, which took us great miles ahead in future life. I am thankful to those teachers who opened the horizons of knowledge to us , and taught the great lessons to conduct a decent civic life too. They were S/Sri Bastian Williams, Mathias, Justin, Mendez, John, MM Thomas, MM Mathew, legendary Vidyadharan, Bahuleyan, Ludowick, Morris, Viswanathan, Chandappilla, Charles, Kanakarajan, Dr Xavier Paul Netto, Sudhakaran and Viswanathan.
