One location of the Materials Research Institute (MRI) at Penn State, the gateway to materials research at Penn State. MRI represents more than 200 materials faculty, 800 graduate students, 200 post docs, plus visiting scientists associated with 15 different departments and 5 colleges across the University.

The goal of MRI is to coordinate, support, and sponsor important and significant advances in materials science, materials engineering, and technological applications of materials for communications, computers, energy, manufacturing, medicine and transportation.
