Chatham is a suburb of Wilmington and is located in Brandywine Hundred. It was a early suburb developed for upwardly mobile residents employed at DuPont, Atlas Powder (now Astra-Zeneca), Wilmington Trust (now M & T), Bank of Delaware (now PNC), and Hercules (now Ashland). Chatham was developed in 1959 by Magness Construction Co.
