As the name implies, a former chalk quarry which forms the green space at the back of the Mackie housing estate. Its original use has left the ground running along the back of Mackie Avenue somewhat unstable and prone to soil creep, requiring many of the properties there to be given expensive underpinning. In recent years, a children's play area has been added.
