Park Place (Vancouver)

Canada / British Columbia / Vancouver / Burrard Street, 666
 office building, skyscraper

Park Place is a signature office building at 666 Burrard Street in Vancouver's financial district. Completed in 1984, it is 140 meters (459 ft) tall with 35 storeys. It was designed by the Musson Cattell Mackey Partnership. Although the tower only uses 35% of the site, at 698,000 sq ft it is the largest office building in British Columbia. The rest of the site is dedicated to green space, a small amphitheatre, water fixtures, and a cascading five-storey atrium that brings the outside indoors. The facade uses pink granite with flush-mounted copper-glazed windows that match the granite's appearance. Although difficult to tell from street level, the design of the building incorporates six sides.

Use of the address 666 is rare, because of the number's negative connotations in North American culture. However, in Chinese culture, 666 is a lucky number, and 30% of Vancouver's residents are of Chinese heritage.

The city's oldest church, Christ Church Anglican Cathedral, was spared demolition when the transfer of density rights to Park Place for cash permitted its survival.

Notable tenants include PI Financial, Davis LLP, Stikeman Elliott LLP, and RBC Capital Markets.
