Mayview Gardens

An area of the former Mayview State Hospital property and current Mayview-Boyce Park where the public may lease a patch of land for a small fee and plant a vegetable garden. The gardeners must put a significant effort into protecting their plants from the numerous deer in the area. The entire area indicated was used for personal gardens in the 1970's and early 80's, but interest as waned as fewer people plant gardens and grocery stores have greatly increased their produce selection and lowered costs.
