Two communications towers located on Boyce-Mayview Park propoerty owned by Upper St. Clair Township. The first tower is a 180+-foot tower built in the 1980's or early 1990's and the second tower was a 330+-foot tower constrcuted in 1996. The second tower has been subject to an on-going, thirteen year lawsuit between residents of the Deerfield housing plan and Upper St. Clair Township.

The communications tower is easily visible from nearly all of Deerfield and is considered an eyesore by most. Deerfield is a relatively prosperous neighborhood with many attorneys, doctors and business professionals. The residents contend the tower lease and zoning were approved by the Township commissioners without any public meeting or vote.

The Township contends the lease was legal based on several generic ordinances they passed in 1996, prior to the tower construction. Upper St. Claiur benefits from free space on the tower for emergency personnel communications equipment in exchange for a relatively low cost lease. The case has been appealed numerous times through the state court system and has cost Upper St. Clair a significant amount of money.
