This is an extension area of Uthamapalayam town, In 1979-80 the Co-op. Building Society purchased the land and had made plots for sale. In the memorial of Mr. PT Rajan who is the father of Mr. PTR Palanivelrajan our former Speaker of Tamilnadu Assembly, the area is called in his name PTR Nagar. To show the integrity between Muslims and Hindus, Masque and temple are situated in one compound. Uthamalayam is also called as South Kalahasthi. A famous temple Gnanamman Kovil is situated near the bus stand. Hajee Karutha Rawther who was the land lard in Uthamapalayam had donated his lands for Hospitals, Schools and college. He is the main reason for increasing the literacy rate in higher education in this rural area.
