A cluster of 19th century roadside cottages some two miles to the east of Petworth. Egdean has a small church dating from the 16th century, centered within the parish of Petworth and Egdean. The original settlement and parish was called 'Bleatham', with a nucleus quarter of a mile to the south of the present settlement.
