The Santa Monica Bay beachfront bike path has been extended, so that now it is possible to peddle from Temescal Canyon at Will Rodgers State Beach in the north, all the way to King Harbor in Redondo Beach (about 20 miles) almost all of it without having to share road space with automobile traffic.
In Santa Monica, Venice, and some other beach communities, pedestrians are prohibited from using the bike path as a sidewalk.

Rollerskating on the bike path is allowed.
