Venice is a district in the city of Los Angeles.
Best known for its canals and beaches, and for the colorful boardwalk.
In the 1950s Venice had some scruffy working class neighborhoods with amazingly cheap rents. The rents are no longer low, vacancies are few, and the proliferation of newly built mansions designed by Frank Gehry and other upscale architects is a classic example of neighborhood gentrification.
Dispite the infusion of New Money, a few areas are still pretty rough, and best avoided after dark.
