historical layer / disappeared object, railway siding
This now grassed over part of the Cinderford Linear Park was once a thriving railway yard and up until 1965 would have been a scene of bustle and noise as hundreds of railway trucks loaded with coal were jostled about whilst awaiting collection. Most traces of the railway have now gone and it takes a keen eye to spot anything lying in the undergrowth, The railway finally closed in approx 1968 with all track and fittings being removed quite quickly afterwards.
