Opened in approx 1935 as a new way out of Old Norchard which was a few miles further down the valley. It was dug from the 'the inside out' and it's said that when the tunnellers broke through to the surface the tree that the engineers had been aiming for in the meadow practically fell into the excavation.Closed in approx 1965 and now a smart new industrial estate although some small reminders linger.
