This was originally the property owned by Westinghouse, which owned a plant here with parking but contained a large amount of excess space, possibly to be used for later expansion or future development. It was eventually shuttered in the late 1990s, and was bought in 2008 by Lynntech Inc., which circa 2010 put up a new sign outside and intended to turn it into an R&D park, called "The Science Park". That failed, and after a second attempt to make better use of the space by putting a new facility for Blinn College met stiff resistance from the area, it was renamed to Providence Park in late 2016 and would be a mixed-use center, featuring retail and restaurants, with the rear part of the property being used for office space.
