This theater was built with the original Wynn Las Vegas, but re-christened as the "Encore Theater" when the sister property was completed. This 1,200-seat theater originally called the "Broadway Theatre" and held "Avenue Q", the very quirky and edgy Tony Award-winning musical-comedy; it debuted on September 8, 2005, and --failing to find a large enough audience in Vegas-- closed on May 28, 2006.

The theater was then renamed the "Grail Theater" and hosted "Spamalot", another Tony Award-winning musical comedy based off of the work of Monty Python. Yet again, the comedy's reliance on American humor did not work as well in the international audience of Vegas and the show opened on March 31, 2007 and closed on July 13, 2008.

After the lack of success with the two Broadway musicals, the theater, re-purposed for the newly opened Encore Las Vegas, was headlined by Danny Gans. Gans had previously headlined at The Mirage, one of Steve Wynn's earlier successes (which he later sold to MGM). Gans passed away May 1, 2009.

Garth Brooks has signed to perform a limited number of shows in the Encore Theater from December 2009 to February 2010.
